I went to yahoogroups this morning trying to find a group for blind dj's, then tried to join ACB's mailing list only to find out that instead of being able to send them a blank e-mail, I had to fill out a form. Well, that wasn't too serious until I got to the end of it and they wanted me to (get this,) copy the immage I saw below.
Well, I found nothing there, and when I clicked the link that was supposed to help me with that, it did absolutely nothing. All it did, was explain to me what the perpose of the immage was.
So, now I can't join their group, because I didn't copy there stupid immage, but how the hell can I copy the damn thing if I can't see it?
same applies to e-mails in yahoo. Before (about 3 years!) i got my e-mail because there were no images. Well, that kind of ofensive too. They are making fun of you as you are blind. Well I don't take it ofensive but those stupid people... you need a sighted to read the image for you. However thats... well, thats ridiculous, fill an image. Well, I have mailing lists in other site but those are just for jaws and wondows. I just had to send them a blank e-mail
Yeah well, unfortunately, this particular group didn't have a place to send an e-mail, so I was out of luck there. I really wish they did though.

I really hate that word verification. Some sites have a link that you can go for the blind and it reads audio, but I don't think Yahoo does. Send them an angry email. I can't even join the JAWS list now for fuck's sakes.
Yahoo claims they have a link you can click on that helps you figure these immages out, but it doesn't do that at all. All the stupid link does, is explain to you the perpose of what the immage is; nothing more, nothing less.
I clicked it twice, and got the same results. Even used the jaws curser to try hoping I might find the supposed text that way. Yeah well, no such luck. It remained unknown to me.
So it's now a proven fact that that statement they've made is untrue, and what I don't understand, is if Microsoft, ( a company very well-known for making a lot of inaccessible products,) can provide an audio link to display these immages, why can't yahoo do the same?
Sure, what Microsoft does have sounds like a record that needs to be cleaned, but at least they're trying to do something about it.

I can't stand yahoo/msn groups period!!!!!!!!!! Why? Too much spam and lemmie tell ya, I chose to check the website instead of getting e-mail like individual e-mails (when someone adds to the list. That's a memory hog.) or daily digest (you're suppose to get one email per day and that too can be a memory hog.) or important notifications (That never worked bc every day I got like 5 e-mails from For The People's list owner that I need to change to individual or daily digest...long story short there.) it's a waste. So I pretty much checked my email on the website but then I started getting like 18 to 20 emails a day... So I unsubscribe and I'm still getting bullshit. I did however wanted to make my own group but I saw that frickin image box, and most message boards (Thank god mine doesn't have that.) or mailing groups have that image box that you gotta copy whatever is in that into the text box. So say the image shows: B5L2I0 then you enter in the box b5l2i0, and presto you're in. But they do that because they only want human beings signing up for the mailing groups/message boards because they don't want robots signing up accounts and sending spam to all members. So this is why I don't do yahoo/msn groups, simply because of the email crap I had to put up with.
hmmm, good point. Well, they should do something for those who are blind. Maybe aduio won't work, because maybe, just maybe robost could be inplied to voice recognition, so I think why not the image text e-mailed to you or some different metod?
